The FDC Afterschool program brought me in as a Teaching Artist from the Brooklyn Arts Council. Twelve students from grades 3 and 4 met with me for 4 sessions ONLY--a total of a bit less than eight hours! In that time they learned about Overhead Projector Shadow Puppetry. They created frames and puppets for a show inspired by 2 popular songs-Thriller and One Tribe (Blackeyed Peas). We rehearsed once for an hour and a half--and then we performed the show for parents and fellow FDC after school mates. Have a look at their terrific creation-it is about ten minutes long--I think you will enjoy! Video footage captured by Debby Field of BAC and lightly edited by me.
